The extrusion die is the heart of the manufacturing process, shaping aluminum into complex profiles with remarkable precision. Regal Aluminum operates a fully-equipped, in-house die manufacturing facility to ensure total control over the quality, accuracy, and longevity of our tooling. This capability allows us to offer both rapid prototyping for custom designs and immediate access to our vast Die Library.

Clients can select from our inventory of over 3000 existing dies to manufacture a wide array of standard and architectural profiles, saving time and cost. For unique projects, our expert team can design, engineer, and manufacture custom dies to meet the most intricate specifications.

From Concept to Precision-Engineered Die

Die Design & Engineering

Every die begins as a concept. Using advanced CAD/CAM software, our engineers translate client drawings and specifications into precise digital models, optimizing for material flow and structural integrity.

Premium Steel Selection

We use high-grade H-13 tool steel, a chromium-molybdenum hot-work alloy renowned for its exceptional strength, thermal shock resistance, and ability to withstand the extreme pressures of extrusion.

CNC & EDM Machining

The steel block is precision-machined using computer numerical control (CNC) machines. For complex shapes and the final profile orifice, we employ Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) for pinpoint accuracy.

Heat Treatment

The machined die undergoes multi-stage heat treatment in a vacuum furnace, followed by quenching and tempering to achieve the perfect balance of toughness and wear resistance needed for extrusion.

Metal Nitriding

This crucial final treatment diffuses nitrogen into the surface of the die, creating an ultra-hard case. Our in-house nitriding process significantly increases die lifespan and ensures a smoother finish on extruded profiles.

Correction & Trial Run
